This page will serve as a basic how to play guide for Slayaway Camp. While there is very little information available at this time, we urge you to check back often, as new information is being added all the time! Feel free to edit this guide with any tips, tricks, and suggestions.

Basic gameplay

The main gameplay of Slayaway Camp is sliding your killer in 4 cardinal directions on a grid, interacting with objects and killing victims. The goal of each level is to kill all victims and get to the exit portal, without accidentally killing or trapping yourself.

Victims

Victim and cop

A cop and a victim

Fragile and easily-scared, victims exist to be murdered. Slide your killer into one of them to murder them. Moving next to one will cause them to run in the opposite direction of you, if there's room.

Use victims not only as targets, but also as stopping points - killing a victim leaves you next to them, not in their space, so you can use this to get to otherwise inaccessible areas. If they aren't where you want them, try to scare them into place.

Cops

Cops will bust you if you stop in front of them, but can otherwise be killed just like victims. They can not be scared and killing them is not required to beat the level.

Moving in front of a cop will not get you busted - only stopping on that space will.

Exit portal

The exit portal is visible at the start of the level, but is inactive. Kill all victims to activate the portal, then slide into it to exit the level.

Bookshelves

Bookcase

A slide from the right will squish the victim

Also take the form of outhouses, bookshelves, or other tall, tippable objects. Bookshelves take up 1 x 1/2 squares, and sliding into one of the shorter sides will tip it in that direction, squishing anyone standing there.

Bookshelves can also be pushed over by victims or cats.

Phone

Phones come in pairs, and can be used to pull victims or cops. Slide into a phone to make the other one ring, and any people in a straight line unobstructed by walls will come running to the phone, re-positioning and possibly running into hazards. Cats will run away from ringing phones.

Cats

Cats behave exactly like victims, with the exception that a dead cat means a level failure, and they will run away from ringing phones instead of towards them.

Water

Nobody knows how to swim, including you. Scare victims into the water for an easy kill, but avoid sliding in yourself.
